Shaun Ward used to be a pro cyclist, living his days on his bicycle and participating in top biking events. In 2012 he had a tragic cycling accident while participating in the North West Mountain Biking Championship near Potchefstroom. He lost control of his bike, fell off, and landed on his head.
After the accident, Shaun was told that he might never cycle again, but against all odds, within a few weeks after the accident he was up on his legs and ready to cycle again.
The road to 2014 for Shaun Ward was a tough one, he had to lay down his pro-cycling but he did not lay down everything in life, he still wants to give back what he can, where he can and as such will be joining our muscle rider team for the 2014 Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge.
We at the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation want to thank Shaun for being an inspiration for us and for people affected with muscular dystrophy. We can see that no matter how hard life knocks you down you get back up and do the best you can.
